hep katt

Hep Katt
by Tamara Palmer

The only similarity between Katt Williams and other stand-up comics is that they all tend to use a microphone onstage. Possessed of a machete-sharp mind and an almost bonelessly nimble body, ready to throw down in the pursuit of breath-arresting laughter, Williams is still largely underrated in the mainstream.

In some circles, though, the comedian, who has starred in an HBO special and recently released the road-trip/stand-up comedy American Hustle, already inspires the fanaticism of a rap star, as evidenced by a photo recently posted on urban entertainment Web site www.bossip.com. In the shot, he's peeping slyly from behind an ample lady, a tattooed drawing of Williams etched on her shoulder blade. It's taken him a while, but Williams is catching up to that role. He recently released his long-promised rap album, It's Pimpin' Pimpin'. That’s right, he's actually rapping, and in an era where punch lines drive rap songs, he's right on time, sounding preternaturally confident alongside such seasoned tongue-twisters as Snoop Dogg, Da Brat, and Vallejo's E-40. Catch this talented rising artist while his tickets are still affordable. (from SF Weekly)
